George Crowell, Principal, Harris, Hardy & Johnstone, P.C.
As the Assurance partner at Harris, Hardy & Johnstone, P.C. (“HHJ”), George spearheaded the program of implementing the new revenue recognition standards across all industries served by HHJ. He developed in-house training programs to familiarize firm team members with the complex aspects of recognizing revenue under ASC 606.
Through this process, George and his team learned about the potholes, flat tires, and fender benders associated with implementation of this new standard.
George graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies), as an accounting major, after serving four years in the Army. He was as a “radar jockey” for the Hawk missile air defense system in Germany and El Paso Texas. He started his career with the Auditor of Public Accounts, and then as a sole practitioner before joining HHJ, over 22 years ago.
He is active in his church, is the current President of the Construction Financial Management Association, and a board member with the VSCPA.
