Disaster assistance for CPAs

AICPA Benevolent Fund information

Natural disasters are becoming more and more prevalent, from wildfires in California to hurricanes in Virginia. The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) has a Benevolent Fund for its members and is READY to assist. While not all members of the VSCPA are AICPA members, we want to point out this important resource.

Established in 1933, the Fund assists members through temporary periods of financial difficulty. In addition to national disasters, funds can be used for members in need due to serious illness, accident, or death of the primary source of income. Benevolent funds can be used for insurance deductibles, temporary housing costs, funding for replacement items, etc.

Ultimately, the AICPA does not want members taking out significant loans or drawing down limited retirement funds to rebuild their lives due to natural disasters. The assistance the Fund provides is a tax-free grant and does not involve repayment.
