Sean O'Connell, CPA/PFS, CGMA, has served as a tax service line leader since 2013. In addition to leading the overall strategic and financial direction of the tax department, he is responsible for practice acquisition integration. He has two top priorities: delivering the highest level of professional client service and creating a dynamic workplace where team members can learn and be successful.
Sean has helped numerous clients navigate their life's most significant financial events -- startup acquisition deals, selling businesses, preparing for succession and retirement and estate planning. He provides holistic financial planning services to high net worth families.
He is a designated personal financial specialist by the American Institute of CPAs. He is an investment advisory representative of PBMares Wealth Management, LLC. As an income tax and estate planning educator, Sean is a sought-after presenter and has been an adjunct accounting professor at the University of Mary Washington.
While serving on and recently chairing the VSCPA Educational Foundation Board, Sean has been successful in raising scholarship funds for those pursuing a Ph.D. in accounting. Earlier in his career, Sean organized the formation of the VSCPA’s Battlefield Chapter. Sean is a leader in his church and in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan community. He serves on the Inova Mount Vernon Hospital Quality Board, has chaired the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce and has served as president of the Rotary Club of Fairfax. Sean served as president and achieved fundraising goals to help the Rappahannock-Area YMCA grow to become Virginia’s largest.
