Susan Van Leuneun, CPA, is the CFO of George Mason University Foundation, Inc. (GMUF/Foundation). GMUF is a 501(c)3 independent charitable foundation that accepts, manages and invests private resources for the benefit of George Mason University, including endowment and real property. Susan joined the Foundation in 2007 as a senior accountant, was promoted to controller in 2009, and was appointed CFO by the Foundation Board of Trustees in November of 2016. As CFO, Susan is responsible for all financial activities of the Foundation including philanthropic contributions accounting and management, the endowment and restricted investment portfolios, and oversight of the Foundation’s real estate and debt portfolios. Foundation initiatives include the restructure of the debt portfolio, a pilot enterprise risk management program, including a comprehensive PCI DSS compliance project, a transformational modification to the endowment spending policy and the implementation of a foundation reserve policy.
