Mary Beth Walsh, MSW, serves as the director of programs with NAMI Virginia. She oversees all NAMI signature and non-signature programs for children, youth, adults and families impacted by mental illness. Mary Beth joined the NAMI Virginia team in August of 2013 and has worked in a variety of roles associated with programming and volunteer management.
After graduating from James Madison University with a B.A. in theater, she spent four years acting in educational shows for children across the country. Although she loves theater, her other passion lies in community outreach, policy and education. Mary Beth received her Master’s in social work-administration, planning and policy practice from Virginia Commonwealth University and has experience speaking on topics related to children’s mental health, leadership development, peer support, crisis planning with families, general mental health information as well as the mental health care system.
She is an advocate for the use of peer support as a vital part of recovery and empowerment for families and individuals living with mental health conditions.
