Lynda M. Dennis, CPA, CGFO, is a discussion leader for the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and was most recently the finance director for the City of Maitland, Florida. Prior to joining the City of Maitland, she was the assistant to the CFO-special projects for the City of Orlando, CFO for the Central Florida YMCA and director of finance and administrative services for the City of Oviedo, Florida. Her experience includes working as an auditor for local and Big Five firms with an emphasis in the insurance, government and nonprofit sectors. She has also worked as the special projects manager for the Dallas County Community College District and as a CPA exam grader for the AICPA. Dennis serves on the AICPA's CPE Committee as well as the Accounting Simulations Work Group. She was a member of the Work/Life Balance and Women's Initiatives Executive Committee of the AICPA from 1997 to 2000. Additionally, she is a member of the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA) where she has served on the Accounting Careers Committee, the Government Standards Review Committee and the Nonprofit Conference Committee. She was also a former chair of the State and Local Government Section. Dennis has served on the CPE Committee of the Central Florida Chapter of the FICPA since 1989 and is vice president of the chapter this year. She served as chair of the Technical Resources Committee in 1993-1994 as well as 2001-2002 and was chair of the Certification Committee in 2000-2001 for the Florida Government Finance Officers Association (FGFOA).
