Cristin Bracken is Chief Legal Officer and Senior Vice President at Gates Industrial Corporation plc. Gates is a multi-national materials science and manufacturing company with 14,000 employees in 32 countries. Cristin directs Gates’ global anti-bribery/anti-corruption, due diligence, import/export and regulatory compliance function. Cristin receives and oversees the investigation of all employee reports and complaints made through Gates’ hotline and otherwise. She also manages a global litigation and claims docket including complex antitrust, product liability, contract, tort, employment and labor issues.
Prior to joining Gates, Cristin spent four years as Associate General Counsel at SM Energy Company. At SM Energy, Cristin oversaw all of the company’s litigation in addition to doing corporate transactional, oil and gas contract negotiation and employment-related work. Before SM Energy, Cristin spent a little over seven years as Senior Counsel, Litigation, at Forest Oil Corporation. Cristin’s early career was in Texas. She graduated from The University of Texas School of Law in 1993. She began working at Fulbright & Jaworski LLP in its Dallas office upon graduation. After two years of a general litigation practice at Fulbright, Cristin joined the Harris County District Attorney’s office and spent the next few years trying over 50 misdemeanor and felony cases. Cristin subsequently left the DA’s office to join the Houston office of Littler Mendelson LLC to practice employment law. Cristin’s first inhouse position was with Dynegy Inc. in 1999. She initially handled Dynegy’s employment-related work but, in 2002, was promoted to Group General Counsel, Litigation, and handled all of Dynegy’s commercial, securities and energy-related litigations and securities-related claims and investigations. Cristin is a “Top Woman in Energy” (2016), “Best Corporate Counsel” Nominee (2012), and “Litigation Super Lawyer” (2004).
