Her academic journey and commitment to her community showcase the profound impact of the VSCPA Foundation's support. 

A remarkable journey 

Hayden Myers’ path in the accounting profession is nothing short of inspiring. Graduating from Virginia Tech in just three years, she is now pursuing her master’s degree to deepen her understanding of accounting and prepare for the CPA Exam. 

“For me, pursuing a master’s degree is more than an academic milestone — it’s an opportunity to explore the many facets of accounting before entering the workforce,” Hayden shared. “This journey has been a chance to align my career aspirations with my passion for helping others.” 

Hayden’s passion for service extends beyond academics. During her internship at a local accounting firm, she participated in impactful community service projects with organizations such as the Girl Scouts of America, local botanical gardens and elementary schools. This experience reinforced her belief in the power of giving back and inspired her to integrate service into her future career. 

A vision for change 

One of the driving forces behind Hayden’s pursuit of accounting is her commitment to financial literacy. Growing up, Hayden observed the struggles of those around her who lacked access to financial education. While her parents set a strong example of money management, she realized that many others were not as fortunate. 

“Volunteering at homeless shelters and hearing the stories of individuals impacted by financial challenges gave me a new perspective,” Hayden explained. “It sparked my passion for helping others navigate their financial journeys.” 

Hayden is determined to start a financial literacy program for elementary and middle school students, aiming to equip young people with the tools to make informed financial decisions. She believes that fostering these skills early will lead to lifelong financial stability and success. 

The impact of the VSCPA scholarship 

For Hayden, the VSCPA scholarship is more than financial support — it’s a stepping stone toward her dreams. 

“This scholarship has allowed me to focus on my education and professional development without the burden of financial stress,” she said. “It’s a testament to the power of community support, and it motivates me to give back in meaningful ways.” 

Hayden credits her exposure to inspiring professionals during high school, including business leaders and entrepreneurs, with shaping her career path. Their guidance and advice emphasized the value of accounting as a foundation for leadership and success.
