Why is the VSCPA sharing my CPE records?
Beginning Sept. 1, 2017 the Virginia Board of Accountancy (VBOA) began using an automated audit process. By transferring VSCPA CPE records automatically, it saves you time from having to manually enter all of your CPE records in the VBOA/NASBA CPE tracking system if you are selected for a CPE audit.
What courses are being uploaded?
These transfers will include coursework completed through the VSCPA over the last four years, excluding coursework completed through the VSCPA’s online education partners such as ACPEN, AICPA, CalCPA, CPA Crossings, Surgent McCoy, etc. The VSCPA cannot add or upload CPE from other providers. Please note that we will include the VSCPA’s Ethics course in your data transfer regardless of the format attended.
What about non-VSCPA coursework?
You can manually enter other CPE into the NASBA tracking system at any time.
Are there any plans to import information from other CPE providers into the tracking system?
At this time, NASBA is only working with a selected group of CPE providers, including a few large firms. Please contact NASBA at the number listed above with further questions.
How will the VBOA use the information contained in my CPE records?
The information in your CPE records will not be used unless you are selected for an audit. It will not be used to determine whether or not you will be audited.
How do I opt in/out?
If you do not want to take advantage of this convenient service, simply opt out. To opt out:
- Log into your VSCPA account at vscpa.com
- Select Edit Account Details
- Choose Communication Preferences
- Scroll down and select “No” in response to NASBA Opt-In
- Select SAVE
What if I'm licensed in a state other than Virginia?
The VSCPA will not be uploading CPE records into the NASBA system for CPAs licensed outside of Virginia until and unless the state they are licensed in has signed up to use the system as well.
Will I still receive verifications of attendance for VSCPA courses?
Yes, you will.
What does it cost to have my records included?
There is no cost to include your records in the database.
Who do I contact with CPE audit questions?
