Introducing the Volunteer Manager system, the VSCPA’s new tool to help you find, secure and manage your VSCPA volunteer opportunities. This system will make it easier for you to find volunteer opportunities based on activity, time commitment and expertise needed. Here’s how to get started.
Log in to Connect
Visit connect.vscpa.com/Volunteer to find the Volunteer Manager homepage, or use the Volunteer menu on the right side of the Connect menu bar. As always when using Connect, you’ll need to be logged in. Your login and password are the same ones you use on vscpa.com.
Opt in to the volunteer pool
Open the Volunteer menu and click “Opt In to the Volunteer Pool,” then click the link on the page. If you’re a current VSCPA volunteer, you can skip this step. Note that you can opt out at any time by setting the “Invite me to volunteer when opportunities match my expertise?” toggle on your volunteer profile (see below) to “No.”
Update your volunteer profile
This is the most important step, as it allows us to do the work for you in matching you with the appropriate volunteer opportunities. Some demographic information will sync automatically from your Connect profile, but be sure to include as much information as you can to get the best matches. You can specify your preferred type of opportunity, travel requirements and time commitment while adding in the credentials and practice area information that will help us find the perfect opportunity for you.
Find and sign up for volunteer opportunities
You can search based on keywords or browse a list of open opportunities, then sign up for the ones that interest you. Some opportunities require approval before you’re officially signed up. And you won’t be allowed to sign up for an opportunity that has all its available slots filled, even if it appears to be open. You can also nominate someone else for a volunteer opportunity through that opportunity’s page.
Watch your email
After you sign up for an opportunity, the appropriate VSCPA staff liaison will contact you with the next steps.
Volunteer!
Once the staff liaison has approved you, you’re all set! You’ll be making a difference in no time.
So what are you waiting for? No matter what expertise you have and what you can commit to, the VSCPA has a volunteer opportunity that fits the bill. Thanks for helping make the VSCPA a better organization!
