Richmond (June 7, 2019) — The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) announced the winner of its first Impact Award at the Virginia CPA Honors & Awards ceremony during the VSCPA Leaders’ Summit on May 16 in Richmond.
The Impact Award recognizes a CPA member has made a recent contribution to the advancement of the profession by showing a commitment to one or more of the following: innovation, learning, advocacy or student activities. James D. Cole, CPA, of Shawsville was named the 2019 recipient.
Cole is President and CEO of the Masonic Home of Virginia in Henrico and was recognized for his contributions to the VSCPA’s educational efforts. Cole has taught more than 375 courses for the Society since 1996, reaching more than 40,000 students. He has been co-author of the VSCPA’s Ethics course and an ethics instructor for 14 years. He has also chaired the VSCPA Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Steering Committee, Business & Industry Conference Committee and is a past member of the VSCPA Board of Directors.
