On March 12, 2021, the VSCPA sent the below letter individually to all Virginia members of the House of Representatives, urging them to support postponing the Aril 15, 2021, tax deadline.
March 12, 2021
On behalf of the Virginia Society of CPAs, I am writing to respectfully request [your] support for a postponement of the April 15, 2021 tax filing and payment deadline.
Representative Raskin and Representative Pascrell are circulating a letter calling on the IRS and Treasury to delay the filing and payment deadline for Federal income tax returns. A postponement will provide tax filing relief for taxpayers and tax practitioners affected by the ongoing challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please contact Lucy Shaw ([email protected]) in Representative Raskin’s office, or Jayne Fitzgerald ([email protected]) in Representative Pascrell’s office to support this call for an extension. The deadline for signing onto the letter is 3 p.m. on Friday, March 12.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for your work to provide relief to our country’s citizens during these unprecedented times.
Sincerely,
Emily Walker, CAE
