Day of Understanding Listening Session

Fri, 09/17/2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
22 / 7-403

Beginning in June, the VSCPA will be hosting a series of diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) listening sessions to create a space to learn from each other and move forward as a more diverse, equitable and inclusive profession.

Each session will be one-hour and led by the VSCPA and a guest speaker, followed by a Q&A portion. Attendees are invited to participate in the discussion, ask questions and share personal experiences if they feel compelled to. Our hope is that by actively listening to your authentic stories, we can lay the foundation to better understand each other’s points of views and experiences, especially when they may be different from our own.

The VSCPA is committed to prioritizing DEI in our profession and community and will continue to provide resources to help individuals and businesses achieve both personal and organizational goals through DEI. Visit the Day of Understanding resource section to find more opportunities to enhance your DEI efforts and knowledge.

After taking a job with a large local CPA firm early in her career, Anne Hagen realized the value of her CPA especially as a women. In this session, Anne will discuss what it was like in those early years and why she’s advocating for other minorities especially Black students to enter the profession.
