Day of Understanding Listening Session

Fri, 08/20/2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
22 / 7-402

Beginning in June, the VSCPA will be hosting a series of diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) listening sessions to create a space to learn from each other and move forward as a more diverse, equitable and inclusive profession.

Each session will be one-hour and led by the VSCPA and a guest speaker, followed by a Q&A portion. Attendees are invited to participate in the discussion, ask questions and share personal experiences if they feel compelled to. Our hope is that by actively listening to your authentic stories, we can lay the foundation to better understand each other’s points of views and experiences, especially when they may be different from our own.

Our guest speaker, Nammy Lee, Ph.D., will lead a thoughtful session on her experience in dealing with diversity, both personally and through the lens of her students, and how leading with empathy helps us bring more awareness and understanding to our differences.

The VSCPA is committed to prioritizing DEI in our profession and community and will continue to provide resources to help individuals and businesses achieve both personal and organizational goals through DEI. Visit the Day of Understanding resource section to find more opportunities to enhance your DEI efforts and knowledge.
