The world of accounting is quickly evolving due to the changes introduced by emerging technologies and unprecedented speed and volume of data. We have more data than ever before, resulting in more ways to capture that data. As accountants, we must adapt to and overcome the challenges associated with big data but also embrace these changes to provide better service to our clients and management.

Focus on the impact big data and data analytics are having on our profession. We will set a foundation for big data including a tool agnostic view of how to apply critical thinking when performing data analytics. We will then dive deeper to talk about specific tools and approaches we can take to clean, analyze, visualize and communicate information that is derived from data sets that contain hundreds of thousands or even millions of records. Walk through models, visualizations and interactive dashboards. Discuss not only how we can accomplish existing practices more efficiently and effectively using data analytics but also dive into how this skill set will allow us to provide deeper insights than ever before. We will also touch on where we are headed in the coming years as it pertains to the use of data analytics in accounting.

Delivery Method: Group internet-based
