VSCPA Sends 2 Letters Supporting Mobile Workforce Act

The VSCPA has sent two comment letters to members of Congress supporting versions of the Mobile Workforce State Income Tax Simplification Act.

The VSCPA has supported similar legislation in the past with the goal of enhancing compliance with state personal income tax laws and simplifying the burdens placed on employees who travel to states other than their tax home for work.

In a letter to Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the VSCPA wrote: “The Mobile Workforce legislative language provides long-overdue relief to businesses in our state from the current web of inconsistent state income tax and withholding rules across the country that adversely affect our state’s employers and employees.”

In a letter to Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), the VSCPA wrote: “We believe the Mobile Workforce legislation is one of the few state tax items that, as a stand-alone bill, could be passed expeditiously by the full Committee and by the House with broad, bipartisan support, as was done during the 112th Congress.”
