VSCPA Peer Review Manager
Hello! I'm Alan Nicholas, peer review manager for the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA). I’d like to welcome you to our very first installment of the Peer Review Source, a newsletter focused on all things peer review. We hope that this communication serves to bridge the gap between CPA firms and the Peer Review program, answer questions and provide helpful tips to help firms navigate through the process, and assist in familiarizing you with the resources the VSCPA provides its members in the program. We’ll look to provide the newsletter three times a year, and with each, we’ll attempt to include the most pertinent topics coming down the pipeline. Each communication will include a note from the chair of the VSCPA Peer Review Committee, tips, frequently asked questions and general feedback to firms from VSCPA staff, as well as a feature from our technical reviewers to provide firms with helpful tips and feedback as they work through the review process.
For our first newsletter, I’d like to introduce the peer review staff here at the VSCPA. Jane Hayes is our peer review coordinator and has been with the Society for 15 years! Many of you are most likely familiar with the friendly voice and attentive customer service that Jane provides our firms, and has been on the front lines of peer review customer service for several years. Whether it be inquiries regarding billing, the peer review process, or PRIMA account issues, Jane is always here to lend a helping hand to our firms and prides herself on prompt and attentive customer service. We’re grateful to have Jane at the society!
You know who I am already. I’ve been with the society since April, and I bring with me experience in peer review from a medical standpoint, after having worked in the same capacity as a peer review committee liaison for the Richmond-based United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). I know that my work in customer service, audit quality and peer review committee liaison work translates well to my role here at the VSCPA. I’m excited to work with firms to provide a supportive approach to the overall improvement of auditing practices, and I want to ensure that the process for firms is collaborative and transparent and serves to benefit the firms moving forward.
I hope you find these communications to be informative and beneficial, and I greatly look forward to working with you. If you have any feedback, questions or ideas for future content, please let us know, we’d love to hear from you!
