New Leadership, but Continuity

Every step the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) Educational Foundation takes — from providing financial assistance to promising students to making sure accounting educators have the tools they need — is intended to attract future CPAs to the profession. And the best resources the Foundation has are the VSCPA's members. The Foundation and the Society would not be where they are if not for the tireless efforts of members to help and promote the profession.

With that in mind, the Foundation would like to thank one such group of volunteers for their service: the 2010–2011 Board of Directors. This year’s success is due in large part to a slate of dedicated and talented volunteers, as well as the legacy left by past Board members.

Strategies for the Future

Along with the new leadership, the Foundation’s new three-year plan is now underway. Leadership has identified five top strategies for 2011–2014:

  1. Revise the Educational Foundation’s case for support to ensure it’s compelling in a competitive fundraising environment.
  2. Increase firm and individual major gifts by developing a multi-year strategy.
  3. Increase annual contributions of unrestricted funds by growing the current donor base.
  4. Build awareness of the Educational Foundation among key stakeholders with a targeted communications campaign.
  5. Review the Educational Foundation’s operations to determine best management, staffing and resources needed.
