VSCPA Peer Review Committee Seeks Technical Reviewer

The VSCPA Peer Review Committee is looking for a technical reviewer to work on a part-time basis.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include evaluating and reviewing the reports and working papers prepared by the review team using American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) standards; making recommendations for acceptance to the Committee; providing technical assistance to the Committee, reviewers and enrolled firms; evaluating the performance of reviewers; and preparing correspondence and assisting in follow-up as directed by the Committee.

Qualifications


The candidate must be a member in good standing with the VSCPA and AICPA and be licensed to practice as a CPA. Candidates must also possess current knowledge of applicable professional standards, be active in public practice with at least five years experience in the accounting and auditing function of a firm, be an owner in a firm enrolled in an approved practice-monitoring program that has received an unmodified/pass opinion on its most recent peer review, have attended a valid reviewer’s training course in the last three years and have at least five years of recent experience as a reviewer on engagement and system reviews.

Time Commitment


Technical reviewers are called as needed, must perform technical review work prior to Committee meetings and attend all Committee meetings. There are normally five Committee meetings per year, at least two of which are held by conference call.
