As part of our Financial Fitness campaign designed to improve the financial health of Virginians, the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) offers a wealth of resources, including programs to connect volunteer CPAs with your organization or company as a pro bono community service.

Nonprofit Pro Bono Assistance Program | Top

Through the VSCPA Nonprofit Pro Bono Assistance Program, Virginia CPAs provide free assistance and advice on financial issues to charitable nonprofits in need in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Some examples of financial advice include: tax preparation, pre-audit preparation, financial management, etc. CPAs are also available to fill a vacancies on your board of directors.

VSCPA Nonprofit Resource Center | Top

The VSCPA offers free resource guides and articles to assist nonprofit organizations with financial management issues. Created by licensed Virginia CPAs, these guides and articles discuss the following topics: responsibility and liability of nonprofit board members; income tax issues affecting small nonprofit organizations; budgeting; auditing; and issues facing nonprofit organizations. Click here to view and download these nonprofit resources. 

Nonprofit Finance Seminar | Top

The VSCPA Nonprofit Finance Seminar is a free workshop designed to give you a better understanding of the important, and often challenging, financial considerations faced by nonprofit organizations. Examine basic accounting and financial issues for nonprofits, including: IRS concerns, fudnraising, budget practices, financial reporting, enhancing management, improving the effectiveness of boards of directors and more. 

VSCPA Speakers Bureau | Top

The VSCPA Speakers Bureau provides Virginia CPAs to speak to various audiences — from schoolchildren to retirees — on topics related to money management and basic financial responsibility. With more than 11,000 CPA members statewide, the VSCPA connects nonprofits, schools, civic groups, chambers, media and other organizations with CPAs from their local communities! Topic examples include nonprofit issues, financial literacy/planning, small business advice, accounting education and careers, and more!

Financial Fitness University | Top

Through Financial Fitness University, the VSCPA provides free CPA speakers to train employees on financial literacy topics. The program provides knowledgeable CPA instructors to address financial issues with employees, members and/or constituents on site. Topic examples include preparing a budget, saving and investing, understanding credit, estate and retirement planning, taxes, small business advice, nonprofit financial issues and more. Nonprofits can also download free resources, such as articles, paycheck inserts, flyers and table tents, for continuing financial education.

Hire a CPA | Top

The Find a CPA program matches individuals and businesses that need professional financial services with CPA firms in their geographic region. This free referral service allows the public to easily search for an individual CPA or firm by name, location, services offered, industries served and size of the firm.
