Legislative & Regulatory

Maintaining a strong government affairs program is crucial for any state CPA association. The VSCPA's work with the Virginia General Assembly, Virginia Board of Accountancy and other state agencies is critical to the profession's success and survival in the Commonwealth.

In October 2005, the VSCPA Board of Directors named legislative and regulatory programs as the VSCPA's number one goal over the next three years.

In the legislative and regulatory arena, the VSCPA strives to protect the CPA designation and further the legislative interests of members through a comprehensive advocacy program. The VSCPA accomplishes this by identifying and communicating a strong legislative agenda; monitoring, participating in and influencing legislation and regulation affecting Virginia CPAs; promoting and researching strategies and programs; maintaining a comprehensive program to communicate between the VSCPA, its members and their legislative contacts; and maintaining a strong political voice through the CPA Political Action Committee of Virginia.
