Why Should I Join the VSCPA?

Through membership in the VSCPA, you will discover several opportunities to shine within the organization and within your community.

By providing a little of your time, service and expertise, you can promote the CPA profession, your firm or company and yourself while giving something back to the community and the profession.

Face-to-Face Interaction

Meeting CPAs in your area is an excellent way to develop skills in new service areas, generate business contacts and create lasting relationships with other professionals. Many chapters host student events and legislative dinners, which can further place you in the forefront of the community. The VSCPA works with 10 independent, volunteer-led chapters, which hold regular monthly meetings to involve you in the VSCPA at your local level. Please note that chapters have separate applications and dues structures.

Ensuring the Future of the CPA Designation

The VSCPA is dedicated to promoting the CPA profession as a wise investment for the future. The VSCPA works with accounting educators and schools to support accounting education among young people and encourage promising students to consider a career as a CPA.

Create the Future Profession

Your membership in the VSCPA strengthens our efforts to ensure a bright future for the CPA profession. Your membership dues are dedicated to promoting the CPA profession throughout the state; advocating the business interests of CPAs before legislative and regulatory bodies; and educating students and young people about the benefits of a career as a CPA.

Shaping the CPA Image

Through a statewide advertising campaign, we promote and enhance CPA's image and stature in the community. Along with public service programs and other media communications, this ongoing campaign fosters a better understanding of today's CPA and promotes the CPA as a vital business resource.

A Stronger Voice for CPAs

The VSCPA represents the CPA perspective on laws and regulations affecting the profession and the public. To further promote member interests, the CPA Political Action Committee of Virginia, which is not affiliated with any political party, supports state-level candidates in Virginia.

Volunteering

The VSCPA offers a variety of committees, task forces, public service programs, student outreach programs and other ways to get involved.
