Virginia Financial Literacy Summit

The Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit that leads a nationwide effort to improve personal financial skills in students and young adults. The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) led the charge to create a Virginia Jump$tart Coalition, and VSCPA Vice President of Member & Public Relations Tina Lambert serves as chair of its Board of Directors. The Coalition now has more than 120 members, including credit unions, government agencies, nonprofits, financial planning groups and educational institutions among others.

Among other initiatives, the Coalition holds an annual Virginia Financial Literacy Summit, which draws more than 300 attendees. Thanks so much to everyone who participated in the 2007 Summit on October 17, 2007 at the Richmond Marriott. The event was a huge success, with nearly 300 of Virginia's middle and high school administrators and teachers as well as the state's leading proponents of financial literacy in attendance to learn about this important issue, discuss solutions, hear best practices and get training from industry experts. Special thanks to our supporters for the event: Capital One, Citigroup, Wachovia, Virginia Society of CPAs and its Educational Foundation, Virginia Credit Union League, State Department Federal Credit Union and Scott & Stringfellow!
