Yount, Hyde & Barbour Annual Scholarship

The Yount, Hyde & Barbour Annual Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior accounting major currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university who has demonstrated academic excellence and financial need to pursue a career in accounting. This $2,500 scholarship is administered by the VSCPA Educational Foundation and funded by a generous contribution from Yount, Hyde & Barbour.

 

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a United States citizen.
  • Applicant must be a junior or senior accounting major currently enrolled at an accredited Virginia college of university with the intent to take the CPA Exam.
  • Applicant must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0.
  • Application must be typed or printed.

  • Completed attached faculty letter of recommendation
  • Essay (500-word maximum) that describes a situation in which you have utilized one or more of the following competencies:
    • Leadership: Describe a situation in which you demonstrated the ability to influence, inspire and motivate an individual or group of individuals to achieve desired results.
    • Ethical Conduct: Describe a situation in which you were confronted with an ethical dilemma and explain how you confronted the issue.
    • Decision Making: Describe a situation in which you demonstrated effective problem solving through your decision-making skills, personal insight, judgment and creativity.
    • Philanthropy: Describe a situation in which you demonstrated philanthropic behavior, thereby solving a problem for or improving your community.
