VSCPA Educational Foundation Announces 2008–2009 Officers and Board of Directors

The VSCPA Educational Foundation is pleased to announce its officers and Board of Directors for the 2008–2009 fiscal year.

Stephanie S. Saunders, CPA, Saunders & Saunders, PC in Virginia Beach, is serving as chair of the Board. A current council member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and a member of the strategic planning committee, she is past chair and member of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants Board of Directors, past member of the VSCPA Executive Committee, past president and board member of the VSCPA Tidewater Chapter and past president of the Norfolk Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA). Saunders has served as discussion leader for the VSCPA ethics course, Ethics — Your License Depends On It! for two years.

The following VSCPA members were named vice chairs of the Foundation board: Sean R. O'Connell, CPA, PFS, PBGH, LLP in Fairfax; and L. Darlene Selz, CPA, Science Museum of Virginia Foundation in Richmond. VSCPA President & CEO Stephanie R. Peters, CAE will take the role of secretary/treasurer.

Founded in 1984, the VSCPA Educational Foundation is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to attracting future CPAs by promoting financial and accounting education, rewarding academic excellence and encouraging students to pursue promising careers. The Foundation supports students and educators in Virginia through undergraduate and graduate scholarships, financial literacy grants and award/recognition programs. New in 2007, the Foundation launched The Leaders’ Institute for Virginia college accounting students — a three-day, all expenses paid program to build future leaders of the CPA profession.
