The Leaders' Institute

The VSCPA Educational Foundation partnered with Beers & Cutler to hold the first-ever Leaders’ Institute for Virginia’s best and brightest college accounting students. The inaugural event was held June 15–17, 2007, at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

The VSCPA Educational Foundation received a $100,000 gift from Beers & Cutler, an accounting and consulting firm in Washington, D.C., to establish The Leaders’ Institute. The only development program of its kind in Virginia, the Institute provides future CPAs with leadership training and skills for a successful transition into the marketplace.

The weekend-long event was attended by 63 of the top accounting students in the Commonwealth who have displayed exceptional academic achievement. The program focused on the development of career-building skills and included sessions on financial literacy and interviewing skills. Participation was limited to VSCPA Educational Foundation scholarship recipients and applicants, as well as students recommended by accounting educators around Virginia.
