2011–2012 VSCPA Ph.D. Accounting Scholarship
The VSCPA Ph.D. Accounting Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship awarded annually to a graduate student who is enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university, pursuing a Ph.D. in accounting, and who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must be a United States citizen.
- Applicant must be accepted or currently enrolled in a doctoral accounting program at an accredited Virginia college or university.
- Applicant must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Applicant must be a full-time doctoral student.
- Application must be typed or printed.

- Completed faculty letter of recommendation (may be mailed separately)
- Essay (500-word maximum) that describes a situation in which you have utilized one or more of the following competencies:
- Leadership: Describe a situation in which you demonstrated the ability to influence, inspire and motivate an individual or group of individuals to achieve desired results.
- Ethical Conduct: Describe a situation in which you were confronted with an ethical dilemma and explain how you addressed the issue.
- Decision Making: Describe a situation in which you demonstrated effective problem solving through your decision-making skills, personal insight, judgment and creativity.
- Philanthropy: Describe a situation in which you demonstrated philanthropic behavior, thereby solving a problem for or improving your community.
- Current résumé
- Official undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) transcripts to date (may be mailed separately)

- Applications for the 2011-2012 academic year are due no later than January 10, 2011. Applications will be available for download this summer.
