WLIFE Awards Honor Workplace Financial Literacy ProgramsThe American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) is launching a new program in conjunction with its 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy initiative. The Workplace Leaders in Financial Education Awards (WLIFE) are a joint effort between the AICPA and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The awards will recognize organizations with exemplary workplace financial literacy efforts and are designed to encourage employers to implement and develop financial literacy programs. The initiative began as a recommendation by the Subcommittee on Workplace Financial Education of President George W. Bush’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy, chaired by Janet Parker, then-chair of the SHRM Board of Directors. Applications will be accepted through July 1 at www.wlife.org and will be judged on the scope of the program, including objectives, tactics, delivery methods, results and innovation. Nine awards will be given in three categories: nonprofit, for profit and government agency. Winners will be announced in October. For employers who do not currently offer financial literacy programs, the site offers a toolkit and resources to help develop such a program. LAST UPDATED 3/31/2011
