VSCPA Member Receives ‘Virginia CFO Award’ from Virginia Business MagazineThousands of extraordinary certified public accountants (CPA) work in Virginia, but this year’s “Virginia CFO Award” program by Virginia Business magazine and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) recognizes outstanding achievement in financial stewardship for Virginia-based public and private companies.
In its fifth year, this prestigious award program was developed to honor chief financial officers (CFO) or those holding equivalent positions whose ingenuity and dedication have lead to success for their companies, their staff and their professional careers.
The VSCPA is pleased to announce a CPA member was selected as a top winner in the “Small Private Company” category:
Jennifer Duff, CPA, is the CFO of MPAY Inc., a Roanoke-based company that provides various business solutions and direct services, including business process outsourcing, payroll processing, time and labor management and benefits administration.
A graduate of Roanoke College, Duff earned the Certified Payroll Professional designation in 1998 and was licensed as a CPA in 2001. Duff joined the MPAY staff in 2004 and spent the first three years of her tenure working with service bureaus to develop, implement and maintain their Service Bureau General Ledgers. In her current role as CFO, she is responsible for directing the financial activities and providing strategic management of the accounting and finance functions at MPAY.
In addition to her VSCPA membership, Duff is also treasurer of the Roanoke Chapter of the VSCPA as well as a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the American Payroll Association.
Dozens of finalists and top winners were announced at a special awards gala on July 1, 2010, at the historic Jefferson Hotel in Richmond in the following categories: public company, small private company, large private company, small nonprofit and large nonprofit. The winners will be profiled in a special cover story in the August 2010 issue of Virginia Business magazine.
