"Ask a CPA" E-mail Program — Disaster Recovery HelpAs a part of its Financial Fitness initiative to improve the financial health of Virginians, the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) offers free resources and volunteer assistance to the public to help with financial recovery efforts in the wake of natural disasters. An online resource center and public service program has been developed to assist individuals and businesses in dealing with the financial and tax consequences that can follow disasters as well as proactive measures that can mitigate the financial impact of an unforeseen disaster.The VSCPA has an online Disaster Recovery Resource Center with information on steps to take prior to, during and after a disaster. This special section includes disaster planning manuals with easy-to-understand resources to guide people through the three key stages of disaster recovery: the days immediately after a disaster, the months following, and the long-term future. Also, through the statewide public service program, CPA members of the VSCPA advise Virginia residents on how to recover from financial loss as a result of natural disasters and unexpected emergencies.
