Virginia CPAs Celebrate Financial Fitness Day on Saturday, April 24

The VSCPA is pleased to announce its statewide community service event, Financial Fitness Day, on Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is being held in celebration of Virginia Financial Literacy Month — April 2010, as proclaimed by Gov. Bob McDonnell.

To help improve the financial health of Virginians, volunteer CPAs will man informational booths at shopping malls and other locations across Virginia to offer free resources and materials to members of the community. Consumers will also receive a copy of the VSCPA’s 2010 Financial Fitness Calendar, which contains year-round financial advice, important financial dates to remember and more!

Booths will be set up at the following locations:

Charlottesville
** Fashion Square Mall at 1600 East Rio Road

Harrisonburg
** Kroger  at 1790 East Market Street

Northern Virginia
** Walmart at 13059 Fair Lakes Center, Fairfax
** Dulles Town Center Mall at 21100 Dulles Town Circle, Dulles

Richmond
** Shady Grove YMCA at 11255 Nuckols Road, Glen Allen
** Tuckahoe YMCA at  9211 Patterson Avenue, Richmond

Tidewater
** Webb University Center at Old Dominion University, Norfolk
** Pembroke Mall at 4554 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach

Developed as part of the VSCPA's award-winning Financial Fitness initiative, Financial Fitness Day is designed to improve the financial health of Virginians. Through community outreach and education, the Financial Fitness campaign is part of a national effort of the CPA profession to educate and increase knowledge of Virginians and all Americans — from schoolchildren to retirees — on money management and fiscal responsibility.
