Register by June 11 to receive the lowest price — $299 for members and $399 for nonmembers. After these dates, 8-hour seminars cost $349 for members and $449 for nonmembers. Cost includes course materials, instruction, lunch and beverage breaks.

  • $100 VSCPA member discount on 8-hour seminars: The $100 VSCPA member discount is automatic for all members of the VSCPA or any other state CPA society. Members of the AICPA who are not members of a state CPA society are NOT entitled to the member discount and should pay the regular course fee as published.
  • $30 AICPA member discount on designated programs: "(AICPA)" is used to denote AICPA-sponsored events above. AICPA members who register for an AICPA/VSCPA-sponsored program receive a $30 discount on the lowest applicable course fee. This discount may be used in conjunction with other VSCPA registration discounts. The $30 discount is available until the date of the course and cannot be applied retroactively.
  • Government vouchers: The VSCPA accepts government vouchers.

Rate: $244/night for a single or double room by June 15, 2012 for the Virginia Beach CPE Cluster. You must request the Virginia Society of CPAs rate when making your reservation. If you need to cancel, this hotel requires cancellation at least 14 days prior to arrival date. If you do not cancel by this time, you will forfeit one night's room and tax deposit.
Parking:
Daily — Daily valet service is free in the Hilton/Public Parking deck when attending VSCPA CPE events. If you choose to self-park in the garage, deck hours are 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. and parking is $10.
Overnight — Overnight self-parking is $7 and valet service is $14.

Instructors | Top

Look up outstanding instructor in the dictionary and you may find a picture of the leader of our accounting & auditing learning-track, Walter Haig Jr., CPA. Owner of his own CPA firm in Creston, Wash., his popular lectures and skills as an instructor have won him the AICPA "Outstanding Discussion Leader Award" five times and the Washington Society of CPA's (WSCPA) "Highest Rated Instructor Award" six times. In fact, the WSCPA "Discussion Leader of the Year Award" was named in his honor in 1990.

Kenneth Bricker, CPA, DABFA, is a partner at Dixon Hughes Goodman. He has worked in the government contracting and acquisitions arena since 1975. He has served as a guest instructor at the Defense Contract Audit Institute and has been a contributing writer to the Defense Contract Audit Manual (DCAM). He is a lecturer on many conferences for the Government Contracting Institute and American Graduate University and is adjunct faculty for Old Dominion University and George Washington University through ESI International.

David Eck, CPA, has more than 31 years of experience working in the government accounting field. He has extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of government laws and regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), individual agency supplements to the FAR, the Truth in Negotiations Act, the Cost Accounting Standards and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) circulars.       

Anthony "Tony" LaRusso, MBA, CMA, is a consultant and lecturer from Naples, Fla. He has over 30 years of experience in industrial and service organizations and was an adjunct professor of management for 20 years. He has written number articles and two books on a variety of business topics. Tony has lectured in 35 states including at major corporations and has conducted consulting activities and managed real estate investments for a family company. In addition he developed and wrote courses for the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).     

Susan Smith, CPA, manages her own firm specializing in tax planning for individuals and business owners. She spent 14 years as a senior manager in the tax departments of PricewaterhouseCoopers and Peat Marwick. While at PricewaterhouseCoopers, she also held the national specialist designation for the real estate and partnership specialized practice units. While at Peat Marwick, Smith led the real estate and tax practices locally.

Bill Walter, CPA
, is a partner at Dixon Hughes Goodman. He has more than 25 years of experience helping companies identify and resolve issues associated with cost accounting and financial management systems. He has developed and taught courses on cost reimbursement contracting, accounting for cost on government contracts, contract pricing and more. He also participates presents to industry groups on current issues in the federal procurement arena.
