VSCPA Sends Financial Literacy Letter to Governor-Elect Bob McDonnell

To introduce the VSCPA and the important issue of financial literacy education to Virginia's incoming governor, Bob McDonnell, the Society sent a December 22, 2009, letter to McDonnell regarding the Virginia Board of Education's personal finance graduation requirement and the Financial Fitness initiative.

"Through its award-winning Financial Fitness community service initiative, designed to improve the fiscal health of Virginians, the VSCPA requests a governor’s proclamation each year to recognize April as Virginia Financial Literacy Month," the letter stated, introducing McDonnell to the VSCPA's practice of requesting the proclamation each year.
