Meet Raina Rose Tagle, CPA, CISA, an independent technology consultant

What college or university did you attend?
Oklahoma State University, B.S. in Business Administration with a major in accounting, 1992.


When did you decide to major in accounting and to become a CPA?
Decided before my freshman year of college. I'd taken an accounting course in high school and liked it. Since my university had a strong accounting program, I thought it made sense to take advantage of it.


What is your current position and responsibilities?
Currently working as an independent consultant. My expertise is in internal control evaluation and design and technology risk. (I am a CPA and CISA.)


What do you like most about your job?
Helping people.


What piece of advice do you have for students about the "real world" of accounting?
It's not about the numbers, it's about organizations and people.


What are some of your volunteer activities?
Organizational development consultant to D.C. Creative Writing Workshop at Hart Middle School. Selection Committee, Washington Post Award for Excellence in Non-Profit Management. Fundraising Committee, Elizabeth Seton High School.


What do you do for fun? Hobbies?
Golf, running, politics, travel.
