AICPA Announces Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop

The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) Minority Initiatives Committee has announced that the annual Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop will take place on May 29–31, 2008, in Peachtree City, Ga.

In its fourteenth year, the AICPA Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop is an annual, all-expense-paid, invitational program for minority accounting students planning to pursue the CPA designation. The program is aimed at enhancing participants’ leadership and communication skills while emphasizing the importance of the CPA designation.

Eligibility Requirements

The student must:

  • Be a junior, senior, fifth-year senior or graduate student who intends to pursue the CPA credential and is a declared accounting or tax major at a college/university
  • Have maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Be actively involved in campus and/or community activities
  • Be an ethnic minority (Black or African American; Hispanic or Latino; Asian; American Indian or Alaska Native; Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander; or of two or more races)
  • Not have attended a past workshop
