Student Membership The VSCPA offers an official student membership for college and university accounting students. For just $15 per year, student members receive a host of benefits including discounts on CPA Exam review courses; free copy of New Accountant magazine; free subscriptions to Disclosures magazine, Footnote e-newsletter and Advi$or student e-newsletter; and much more! High School Accounting Club The VSCPA High School Accounting Club program is a great way for high school students to prepare for college and careers in accounting. This FREE program provides students with resources, networking opportunities and information about the profession, including a free subscription to Advi$or, the VSCPA's student e-newsletter. Speakers Bureau The Speakers Bureau matches your high school with CPAs in your geographic region to provide your students with information and materials about the CPA profession and the diverse career opportunities available to them. The CPA Connection This exciting mentoring program was developed to connect experienced CPAs with college students — to offer career advice, answer questions, provide networking opportunities, and strengthen the student's professional and academic experience. Scholarships & Grants The VSCPA Educational Foundation awards more than $22,000 in scholarships each year to Virginia's best and brightest undergraduate, minority undergraduate and graduate accounting students. In 2002, the Foundation began offering $1500 grants to high school teachers through a pilot program with Virginia Beach Public Schools. Awards of Achievement The VSCPA offers the Award of Achievement to outstanding accounting students at Virginia colleges and universities, community and junior colleges, and high schools. The VSCPA accepts nominations for the Award of Achievement during the late winter and early spring. Chapter Student Events The Society helps VSCPA chapters with student events, which includes providing information to students on accounting careers and the Society. The VSCPA academic relations liaison attends events to gather feedback and share VSCPA student resources. CPAStudentZone.com Web Site The VSCPA's student Web site at www.CPAStudentZone.com provides a comprehensive resource center for accounting students and accounting educators, including career and internship resources, CPA Exam prep discounts, scholarship information and more. For easy access, please add this site to your favorites! High School Educator Ambassador The High School Educator Ambassador program provides educators with the tools and resources necessary to enhance their own careers while educating students on the exciting career opportunities the CPA profession has to offer. This FREE progarm is open to any high school educator or guidance counselor at a Virginia high school with an interest in accounting and business. High School Educators' Symposium Created in 2001, the VSCPA High School Educators' Symposium provides high school accounting teachers and guidance counselors with curriculum enhancing programs and materials that encourage high school students to pursue accounting degrees. Educator Membership College and university accounting educators are eligible for VSCPA membership. Those who have their CPA certificate are fellow members and those without are associate members. New benefits for educators include Educator Insider bimonthly e-newsletter, educator listserv, Accounting Chair Forum and previous benefits like Educators' Symposium. Educators' Symposium The VSCPA Educators' Symposium is designed to foster communication among accounting educators at Virginia's colleges and universities. In its seventh year, the popular event focuses on hot topics and issues facing accounting education and the CPA profession. Accounting Career Resources The VSCPA offers a wealth of free educational resources and materials that promote accounting education and the CPA profession. Resources and materials include CPA iPack curriculum kits, accounting career brochures and flyers, videotapes and the VSCPA's Super CPAs comic books.
