2007 VSCPA Educational Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The VSCPA Educational Foundation recently selected its college scholarship recipients for the 2007–2008 academic year. This year, the VSCPA Educational Foundation awarded $25,000 to 16 accounting college students across Virginia in four different scholarship categories: undergraduate, minoritygraduate and the Goodman & Company Annual Scholarship. The VSCPA Educational Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting business and accounting education, rewarding academic excellence and encouraging students to pursue promising careers.

To qualify for a VSCPA Educational Foundation undergraduate or minority undergraduate scholarship, recipients must complete a minimum of three credit hours of accounting course work, be enrolled in three additional accounting credit hours and have an accounting GPA of 3.0. Graduate scholarship applicants must be currently enrolled or have been accepted in a graduate accounting program at a Virginia college or university. Other selection criteria for the awards includes overall academic performance, entry essay, faculty recommendation(s), and community and/or extracurricular activities.

The Goodman & Company Annual Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior accounting major enrolled at a Virginia college or university who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need and is pursuing a career in public accounting.

  • Katherine Jones of Blacksburg, Virginia Tech

  • Carol Scheivert of Richmond, Virginia State University
  • Laura Stoddard of Williamsburg, College of William and Mary
  • Megan Wheeler of Churchwater, Bridgewater College

Graduate:
